On the evening of August 1, in the mountainous district of Nam Tra My (Quang Nam province) took place the 2nd Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival with the theme "The flavor of Ngoc Linh ginseng".
This is a meaningful activity to honor and promote products from Ngoc Linh ginseng, a rare medicinal herb with high economic value of Quang Nam province and Vietnam.
Within the framework of the festival, many exciting activities took place such as procession of Ngoc Linh ginseng symbol; fairs of ginseng and typical agricultural products in mountainous districts of Quang Nam province; develop artistic images of Ngoc Linh ginseng; performing traditional arts and culture of ethnic minorities.
Ngoc Linh Ginseng is a particularly rare and precious medicinal herb, containing up to 52 saponin compounds, with a high content of micronutrients that promote health and treat many diseases. From an indigenous medicinal plant variety grown only in Tra Linh commune with a modest area and number of households participating in planting, up to now, Nam Tra My district has 779 households in Tra Linh, Tra Nam and Tra Cang communes participates in planting ginseng under the canopy of old forest, with a total area of more than 932ha.
In June 2017, Ngoc Linh ginseng was included in the list of national products by the Prime Minister, opening up the potential and strong development direction for this plant. Ngoc Linh ginseng not only contributes to hunger eradication and poverty alleviation, improving the lives of the people in the highlands of Nam Tra My, but also contributes to the protection of the primeval forests here.
With high economic value, in Nam Tra My district, there are more and more "ginseng billionaires." Currently, Quang Nam province has planned more than 15,000 hectares to grow Ngoc Linh ginseng and many businesses have registered to participate in planting and developing this rare medicinal plant.
