Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum honors heroic historical marks

(TITC) – Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum is located on Highway 279, Muong Thanh Ward, Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province. The museum preserves documents, artifacts, and images recreating the great victory of the nation. It is also a red address for educating revolutionary traditions, a destination for those who love history and national culture.

The Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum has modern architecture. The exterior is designed in the shape of a bamboo hat covered with camouflage mesh along with a system of concrete and steel bars forming a diamond shape, symbolizing the garrison shirt of Dien Bien soldiers in the past. The museum consists of 1 basement and 1 upper floor. The upper floor is a permanent exhibition space specializing in the Dien Bien Phu historical victory, a panorama space and a working department. The basement is a place to welcome visitors, a space for learning, interaction and entertainment services.

The exhibition is arranged on the ground floor of the Museum, preserving about 1,000 documents, artifacts with many materials, images, maps, arranged in chronological order, interwoven with the display style according to the collection of artifacts.

The museum space is divided into 5 topics: Overview of the resistance war against the French colonialists; Dien Bien Phu campaign (French colonialists’ plot, our policy, the developments of the Dien Bien Phu campaign); Impact of the Dien Bien Phu victory on the country and the world; The help of the world’s people in the Dien Bien Phu campaign and Honor.

The exhibits are placed in glass cabinets, with red velvet pedestals and lighting systems that ensure the requirements to highlight the exhibits. Below each exhibit are full, concise annotations of information about the exhibits, highlighting the intention of displaying the exhibits in that context. So that viewers can see each exhibit or a group of exhibits as a story, a historical period.

Exhibits associated with individual achievements placed solemnly in easy-to-see, easy-to-observe and easy-to-introduce such as: Mr. Ma Van Thang’s bicycle, Mr. Trinh Dinh Bam’s wheelbarrow, Comrade Nguyen Phu Xuyen Khung’s silk shirt or Comrade Chu Van Mui’s electric sound machine.

In addition, there are also prominent spaces such as: perspective of pulling artillery into the battlefield, transporting food, breaking rocks to open roads, models of doctors and nurses taking care of wounded soldiers in shelters…

In particular, the exhibition house has organized the display of some types of artillery that were previously only displayed outdoors such as Mountain artillery, Anti-aircraft artillery, 105mm artillery, H6 artillery. The 105mm artillery and H6 artillery were heavy weapons used for the first time, bringing unexpected results and causing serious damage to the French.

The special highlight of the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum is the panorama located in the center of the museum. This is a panoramic picture that completely and seamlessly recreates the typical battles according to the developments of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, giving viewers a complete, intuitive and vivid perspective. The panorama is arranged in 4 stages: “The whole people go to battle”; “The majestic prelude”; “The historical confrontation” and “The triumphant song to celebrate the victory”.

Fascinating stories, vivid images, artifacts, documents, and images are scientifically arranged in chronological order, recreating the historical milestone of a heroic victory of the nation. Thereby, helping historical stories become more vivid, contributing to bringing history closer to the public.
